Trust the Process
Healing happens in layers.
There are examples of this in the bible where I can relate. Think about Lazarus. He was dead. Like dead dead. Like, days dead by the time Jesus got to him. But that didn’t stop Jesus from performing a miracle. Death is no match for our God. Praise break….Thank you Jesus. Hallelujah!
Jesus called his name, and death had to let go! Out He came, ALIVE. Resurrected, but yet still bound.
The bible records another encounter Jesus had with a blind man. In the book of Mark, It states “they begged Him to touch the man and heal him.” Jesus did something very unconventional, as He often does, and spit on the mans eyes, laid His hands on him, then asked him, “Can you see now?”
The man answered YES! I can see…..just not clearly! Again, we find a situation, where the man was healed, but the work seemed incomplete!
Like Lazarus, I sometimes still walk out of the tomb in grave clothes. My healing seems incomplete. Ive heard the Master’s voice! I responded! He has set me free. Of that I am sure.
But yet sometimes, I still come wrapped in what feels like death…..doubt, discouragement, unbelief. I find myself questioning, have you really called me?
Im free! Im alive! Resurrected! But still wrapped in the past and what can sometimes feel like death.
In the song, Party Rock Anthem, It repeats.. “Everyday I’m shuffling”
That’s me!
At times, my feet are barely moving, But…… Im coming out!
We can be so impatient in the process. We want it all and we want it now! But what I have found in walking with the Lord, is that He often chooses to work through process. A shuffle more than a run.
In Exodus, the children of Israel were praying to be delivered and God said, (paraphrase) I hear you…Here’s baby Moses, who’s just right for the job. PROCESS!
I believe He works things out of us and into us, and that takes time. The goal isn’t just the healing or deliverance. His ultimate goal is to form the very nature of Christ in us. (Rom 8:29)
Jesus placed His hands on the blind man again, and his eyes were opened and his sight was restored completely.
Lazarus was alive. He came out of the grave, but He wasn’t yet free. He was alive, yet still bound. Jesus spoke again and said, “unwrap him and let him go!”
What if what we desire is the outcome, but what God desires for us is something much more?
I can hear the Master calling us, “Stay with me just a little longer! Come to me again and let me continue the work.”
He knows our human nature is to get what we came for and keep it moving. But He desires our presence. He has paid a high price and has gone to great lengths just to be with us. Could “Process” really be about “Presence?”
Could it be, “Immanuel” over “just to get well?”
So, relax and take a deep breath if things aren’t happening in your life as quick as you think they should. Rest assured that there is a deeper work happening.
Phil 1:6 - And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
